ELECTING to bat Newland found the first ten overs difficult but then they steadily got on top.

Steve Freeman 65no gave excellent support to captain Genever 113no who joined the club's elite when during his innings he passed 1,000 runs for the season and the innings closed at 195 for 0 despite the gallant efforts of the Wyre bowlers.
On a track that had become flat and easy it was no easy task for the Newland bowlers and the efforts of Oakley (46) Corbett (40) and Poole 37no ensured a tight finish and a relieved Newland won by 11 runs.
