ON a breezy day at Bredon, Barnards Green were sent into bat on a damp, bouncy wicket.
BREDON 1ST XI v BARNARDS GREEN 1ST XI
Openers Divito and Golder laid the foundations with a solid opening partnership of 102, before Divito holed out on 39. Golder was joined by Cooke (22) who pushed some convincing boundaries before the enforced acceleration proved too much and he returned to the pavilion. A similar appearance was then made by Williams (15) before Golder flailed at one too many and was caught from Booth, having reached a deft 70. This left Price (2), Hancock (8) and Lamb (23no) to wrap up the innings with some quick fire stroke play. Farey bowled 8-0-32-2 but pick of the Bredon attack was Booth with 8-0-43-3.
Bredon's reply was steady from the off. Adams removed Farey on 18, but then Ebbage and Fenney took up the run chase with gusto. Brookes bowled admirably from the Wood End but could not make the breakthrough. Some able blows saw Fenney through to 39 until Cooke tempted him outside off stump, and then repeated the trick with Hill (4). Fisher (33no) punished any lax bowling late on. Ebbage finally departed on 61, and Draper (9) joined Fisher to knock off the total in the 37th. A good effort from Cooke brought figures of 8-3-20-2.
