BARNARDS Green Sunday 2nd XI travelled to Swindon to play their penultimate league game of the season, Green needing to win both games to take the division title, as Worcester Taverners are six points behind also with two games remaining.

Green skipper Dave Bayliss won the toss for the first time in seven and decided to bat on what looked like a bouncy track.

The Green got off to a good start and continued to close on a superb 266-7 total.

Star of the innings was Alex Lamb who reached his half century in 64 balls and went on to reach an excellent 120, his maiden century for the Green with 16 fours and four sixes in 131 balls, before being caught at point off the bowling of Smith.

Good contributions were also made by Phil Spencer (32), RW Brown (30) , RA Brown (22), M Wajzer (17) and Kevin Golder (16).

Swindon started their innings in the same manner as the Green and at 111-2 off 20 overs the Green's total looked reachable.

The introduction of Andy Wheeler saw two wickets fall in his second over and this changed the game totally as R A Brown then dismissed the impressive Wale for a well played 60. Despite an impressive 57 run last-wicket partnership, ended when Brooks was brought back on, Swindon were all out for 204.

RA Brown bowled very well for 8-0-29-4.

Green II host Old Elizabethans on Sunday.
