IAN Cottrill returns to the scene of last season's goalkeeping heroics when Worcester City visit Folkestone Invicta in the Dr Martens Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

The City stalwart stepped between the posts and made a string of saves following Danny McDonnell's red card, as they went on to win the match 2-1.

McDonnell is still suffering from a back injury and will not be in the squad for the match but Cottrill, who came on as a seventh minute substitute for Martin Weir in City's 0-0 draw with Merthyr Tydfil, is set to be included.

Despite back to back goalless draws John Barton's team remains just three points adrift of leaders Havant & Waterlooville, who were held 2-2 by fellow high-flyers Folkestone in midweek.

City's boss revealed his side were disappointed not to have captured all three points in the midweek stalemate at Merthyr.

"We've picked up points in almost every game but we can look at missed chances in the games against Newport Isle of Wight and Merthyr Tydfil and it is a little disappointing," admitted Barton.

"Interestingly enough there were a few grunts and groans of disappointment in the dressing after the Merthyr match because of the fact we hadn't won and taken all three points.

"The reaction shows some depth of feeling in the side and hopefully we can use it constructively to get a result on Saturday."

Substitute Dwain McFarlane spurned a golden opportunity to snatch a late winner against the Martyrs but Barton refused to be critical.

"Dwain is just like anyone else, you are disappointed when you miss a chance that gives you the opportunity to change the course of the game but we won't be critical of people missing chances," he said.

"We want to encourage them to carrying on getting in positions to take the next chance."

Defender Weir, who needed five stitches in a shin gash following the Merthyr Tydfil game, is doubtful for the long trip to Folkestone.

"You'd have to say he was doubtful because there is a worry about it reopening again and also what sort of level of performance you could get with the discomfort of the injury," said Barton.

Barton is hoping that both midfielder Paul Carty and defender Allan Davies will be available. Carty was on the substitutes' bench at Merthyr.

It's a big few days for City as Kettering Town come to St George's Lane on Monday, with Barton's men hoping for quick revenge for a 4-1 away defeat last month.
