THE pig roast & race night held recently at The Three Nuns, Colletts Green, raised over £600 for the sponsored walk on the Great Wall of China being undertaken by Sharon Dawe to raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice.

The raffle of a bottle of Bells whisky also contributed to this sum. Sharon leaves for China on September 30.

Last Saturday, Rev David and Lynn Nichol, children Thomas (aged 10 years) and Catherine (seven) took part in the sponsored cycle ride for the Worcester & Dudley Historic Churches Trust. They rode 15 miles braving the Saturday morning traffic to visit the churches in Worcester. Starting at St Peter's, Powick, they cycled to St John's Church, St Clements' and St David's, on to All Saints at Deansway, St George's and St Martin's in the Cornmarket, on to Worcester Cathedral and St Mark's in the Cherry Orchard, before returning to Powick.

All monies raised will be shared, half to the Historic Churches Trust, and half to Powick Church. Congratulations to them all.

At the family service at St Peter's Church last Sunday morning families of travellers employed in the harvesting of hops at Manor Farm, Powick were welcomed into the church when two babies were baptised. Rev David Nichol baptised Henry Edwards and Julie Darkas Taylor of Pontypool.
