Bewdley Town started brightly in Saturday's local derby but visitors Wyre Forest ended up 2-0 winners.

With several injured or suspended players, Bewdley had the chance to take the lead after just five minutes.

Grant Gibbs was brought down in the area but Paul Field's penalty was easily saved by Darren Pace.

Forest, also missing several regulars, responded with a goal from Darren Raybould.

He ran clear of the defence, rounded keeper Ian Harvey and passed the ball into an empty net.

The home side had to make an early substitution when Paul Hyde came on for the injured John Hardiman.

They attacked for the rest of the half but could not break down a resolute Forest defence.

Meanwhile, Forest's Richard Costello was always a threat to Bewdley's back four.

Though dominating the second half, Bewdley were denied on several occasions by Pace.

Forest should have gone two ahead but for a great save by Harvey.

However, with 15 minutes of the match remaining, Forest did get their second goal when Tony Blain out-jumped the defence to head home.

Bewdley missed several chances to pull a goal back.

Fixture, Saturday: Bewdley Town v Mahal (League).
