Norton Rgrs U-14 12,

Martley Spurs 2

THE three-month lay-off doesn't appear to have diminished the appetite of the Mercian Elgar League champions as they demolished Martley in their opening game of the new season.

New signing Scott Williams marked his debut with a hat-trick, while fellow newcomer and player of the match Peter Stedman scored twice.

The latter set the ball rolling with the first two goals before Williams took centre stage to help make it 6-0 at the break

Ashley Knight was also on target with Tristan Buckley the provider and he went on to bag a brace himself before the break.

An interval reshuffle halted the goal rush but rampant Rangers still managed to add four more goals to their tally courtesy of two from James Muddiman, Tommy Sandles and Alex Gretton.

Prior to Muddiman's ninth Norton goal, Martley had notched two of their own to salvage a little pride.

Peopleton U-14 1,

Chipping Campden 1

LEAGUE newcomers Chipping Campden had an early let off when an early Peopleton strike struck the crossbar.

Despite making the early running, the home side fell behind when Tom Lewis rolled the ball into the net.

Peopleton continued to attack and the Campden keeper made an excellent save - an effort soon matched by opposite number Matt Clements.

Matt Bulmer's solo run on goal led to the move that brought Peopleton an equaliser when Luke Frankum's astute flick allowed Lea Miller to volley into the net.

Marcus Claytor proved the home side's hero late in the game when his goalline clearance denied the visitors and earned Peopleton a point.

Badsey Rgrs U-12 6,

Cleeve Colt Rvrs 1

RANGERS had to come from behind to open their league campaign with a win.

The visitors struck within 20 seconds of the first whistle but Jamie Clarke made it 1-1 after four minutes and the scorer then carried on his form of last season by adding a second.

Confidence high, Badsey dominated the remainder of the half and Clarke completed his hat-trick and was joined on the treble mark by player of the match Joe Smith, who first goal was a real solo effort as he left four players trailing before chipping the goalkeeper.

Cleeve performed better after the break but they still needed the heroics of their goalkeeper to ensure the interval scoreline remained at the final whistle.

Campden Tn Lions U-10 9, Evesham Robins 1

AFTER an even opening ten minutes, Campden took the lead thanks to a fine solo effort from Martin Tomes.

Goals then flowed at regular intervals with Jack Proctor scoring three and Danny Holloway twice finding the net. Tomes added his second, while Fred Rawlings and Joe Godson also got in on the act.

The Robins battled throughout and, after being thwarted by Michael Beasley, they finally scored a consolation in the last minute.

Inkberrow 1,

Campden Tn Lions U-11 12

A NEW-LOOK Town side, still missing a few players, started off the new season in convincing style.

Alex Seys led the scoring with four goals, Joe Ford hit a hat-trick and Charlie Tyler scored twice. Campden's other scorers were Rob Burford, Jonti Wilson and Kieron Carr.

Evesham Jnrs U-9 0,

Evesham Robins 11

THE final scoreline didn't reflect the efforts of the losers in a fiercely contested local derby.

Olly Scarrott was the day's individual top scorer with four goals. Olly Davis and Jake Hall bagged two apiece with the scoring completed by Kieran Gilbert, Michael Savage and David Thompson. Six-year-old James Schembri made his debut.

Dunnington U-9 0,

Elmley Castle 4

AMBASSADOR League newcomers, Dunnington, found Castle too strong as two goals in each half gave the visitors victory.

Oliver Ballard was the first half hotshot and he completed his treble late in the game before Tim Smith's fine solo strike sealed the win five minutes from time.

Elmley dominated the first half but Dunnington saw more of the ball after the break and came close to scoring on several occasions after forcing a number of corners.

Player of the match, Rob Walters, marshalled the Castle rearguard and the two late goals sealed a comfortable opening day win.

Broadway U-10 4,

Bredon Colt Cobras 4

DESPITE taking a two-goal lead, Bredon had to settle for a point from their first league outing.

Robbie Keating and Ashley Moore were the first half scorers before Broadway rallied after the break to take the lead.

Keating added a second and Ryan Harper's strike gave Bredon a 4-3 lead that would have been extended had it not been for a fine stop by the home goalkeeper.

That was to prove crucial as Broadway broke away late on to grab a fourth and deny Bredon, who visit Evesham United Robins on Saturday, a win.

Badsey U-12 6, Cleeve Rovers 1

BADSEY went a goal behind in the first minute but soon recovered and dominated a game in which the Cleeve goalkeeper produced a string of fine saves.

Jamie Clarke hit a hat-trick and player of the match Joe Smith scored twice. An own goal completed the scoring.

Evesham FDS U-9 4,

Glebe Farm Colts B 1

EVESHAM made an impressive debut in a strong Central Warwickshire League fixture at Bidford.

The home team opened their 22-game season with a confident all-round performance led by player of the match George Whiston.

There were a brace of goals for each of the strikers, Tom Goodwin and Max Snelson.

Evesham Utd U-11 4,

Bardwell Boys 1

UNITED started their 11-a-side campaign in the Witney League with a win against their Bicester visitors.

The home side started brightly and were soon in front when Ben Parry put Jon Wein through for the first.

The midfield continued to press Bardwell and Robert Andrew added a second before a penalty reduced the deficit.

The hosts took control and created several good chances after the interval when Lance Smith hit a post.

Evesham forced several corners and eventually scored a third when centre back David Huggins looped a shot over the keeper.

Adam Styles then secured the points when he broke away to thump the ball in from close-range.

Jordan Shelton and Matthew Rose shared the United player of the match honours.

Alcester 2000 0,

Littleton Jnrs U-11 12

LITTLETON dominated this game against newcomers Alcester 2000.

Dan Keen scored a neat goal in the second minute and it was 3-0 as MAtt Goss and Ben Johns followed suit.

Alcester were denied by goalkeeper Sam Bastow before Goss and Keen combined for a fourth and Johns clipped in a second before the break.

Ryan Clarke turned neatly in the box after the restart to further increase the lead and Luke Lowerson's swift brace was followed by a superb volley from Clarke, who then completed his treble.

Lowerson completed his-hat trick and it was from his cross that an unfortunate Alcester defender turned the ball into his own net to complete the scoring.

Littleton Colts U-11 2,

Elmley Castle 1

AFTER two seasons without a win, Colts tasted victory for the first time.

Littleton enjoyed most of the forward play in the first half but they were grateful to keeper Steve Powell for a couple of fine saves.

Elmley, though, did take the lead when Taylor scored but, within five minutes, Young grabbed a fine equaliser when he chipped the advancing keeper.

Both sides had chances to take the lead but, on the stroke of half time, Nick Powell struck the ball through a crowd of players to give Littleton the lead.

Elmley took the game to their hosts in the but, thanks to the defensive efforts of Michael Powell and Phil Jones, Littleton hung on.
