MOTOR SPORT: ONLY a major upset can prevent Chad Yarranton clinching the National Motocross Small-wheel 85cc Youth Championship in Cambridgeshire at the weekend.
The 13-year-old speed king is 89 points clear of the opposition after winning three of his four races at Desertmartin, near Cookstown, in Northern Ireland.
And Yarranton is also marking a double, renewing his contract with sponsors Kawasaki until 2002 and starting life at Stourport High School.
His father Buster said: "Hopefully, he'll be the British champion by next week. He won his first two races by 20 seconds and 15 seconds, held on to second in the third and won the last one by 25 seconds.
"It was an absolutely fantastic performance and we are really, really pleased."
Yarranton races in Mildenhall on Saturday and Sunday.
