MOTOR SPORT: TALENTED motorbike racer James Crumpton has quit the MRO National Championships - and is appealing for support to make next year's competition.

The Stourport man was fourth in the race table but was hit hard for funds when he lost his job at an engravers after breaking his ankle in a race.

However, the 32-year-old believes he can make a real impact and a third place in his last competition, the popular Ulster Grand Prix, backs up his claims.

He declared: "I'm getting results on a six-year-old bike so it proves I have potential.

"I could win next year's championship on a decent bike. I had a win and a few thirds this season."

Crumpton estimates he needs around £12,000 for the championships which start next April and involve 12 rounds across the country.

But his immediate concern is possible ankle surgery after suffering the injury at Thruxton in June.

Crumpton can be contacted on 01299 825514.
