A MOTHER-of-two has slammed vandals who have repeatedly smashed a telephone box outside a primary school, the latest attack coming less than 24 hours after it was repaired.

Louise MacLeod-Whitehouse, 31, of Hartlebury Park, said her four-year-old daughter had recently been injured after falling and cutting her knee on broken glass from the box.

And she criticised BT for taking weeks to clear up and repair the callbox outside Wilden All Saints First School, Wilden Lane, despite repeated phone calls from anxious parents.

Mrs Macleod-Whitehouse said she had called the company nine times over the past fortnight reporting the problem.

And she added at least one other parent had also phoned several times but had been told the company had not been informed of the problem.

She said: "It's an ongoing problem with this phone box. Every other week it seems to be vandalised. Then it's a case of waiting for BT to come out and repair it."

After being vandalised seven weeks ago, the box was finally repaired on Monday this week - but within hours it had been vandalised again.

Speaking on Monday, Mrs Macleod-Whitehouse added: "If it was not for the fact I went to the Shuttle/Times and News this morning I don't think it would have been repaired by this lunchtime."

A spokeswoman for BT said it had received two reports the phone box had been damaged on Wednesday, September 5, and again two days later. Prior to that, the only call received was on June 14, she said.

She confirmed the call box had been repaired on Monday but had since been vandalised again.

She added: "For some reason we seem to have a particular problem with this pay phone."
