NEW College students have achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in professional accounting exams.

Professional Studies students who sat the Association of Accountants (ACCA) exams thrashed the national average pass rate of 57 per cent with their outstanding results.

The Peakman Street college has also received a letter of commendation from the awarding body for excellent results in the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) exams.

A pass rate of more than 82 per cent was recorded across the foundation, intermediate and technicians levels, compared with the national average of 69 per cent.

Professional studies department head Derek Street said: "These results are probably the best ever seen by the college.

"This success is testimony to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.

"All the students who studied the ACCA examinations did so through the Flexastudy route, which enables students to work at their own pace while receiving individual tutor support and guidance."
