DROITWICH Spa angler Ken Renshaw urgently needs your help if he is to compete in next month's world championships in Portugal.

Ken needs around £2,000 in sponsorship towards the cost of travelling, competing and accommodation in the disabled section of the championships.

The 50-year-old, who is wheelchair-bound, will represent Wales after just missing out on the England team at the June trials on the River Nene, in Peterborough.

The disabled anglers will be competing at the same time and place as the able-bodied competitors during the two-day world championships. There will be a team and an individual event.

Ken, of Moreland Road, started fishing when he was a child.

He has been in a wheelchair since 1979 and is a trustee of the British Disabled Angling Association.

Ken said: "I will be having a weeks' practice in Portugal first and I desperately need sponsorship before I leave on October 6."

"It's my first ever world championships so I'm very excited but it's now a matter of raising enough money to go."
