BROMSGROVE Cricket Club's First XI retained their Birmingham and District Premier League Division One status with a winning draw over Stourbridge on Saturday.

The result sees the former Midland giant relegated into Division Two West after they failed on two occasions this season to comply with result procedures that cost them six points. Bromsgrove survived by just five.

Club captain Nick Husbands said: "Surviving relegation is not something to party about. We really shouldn't have been there, but we were and by nailing out results when it mattered we stayed up and we're extremely pleased.

"It has been a long hard season but the team have shown great commitment and stayed together through thick and thin."
