THE contract worry Bromsgrove Rovers manager Steve Daniels feared came true when strike ace Paul Moore joined Telford United.

Daniels, who is only on a week-to-week contract himself, admitted his hands were tied over the weekend's deal, which sees the former Stourport Swifts star have a crack at Nationwide Conference football.

But the Greens boss has moved swiftly to make sure it doesn't happen again. With the help of chairman Tom Herbert, central defender Jon Ford was put under contract on Saturday. And with Rovers' administration order due to end in the next fortnight, others look set to follow suit.

Daniels said: "I didn't want to lose him but he was a non-contract player. I'm sad to see him go but that's life -- it's very frustrating.

"We have the best of a bad deal. It's a big loss but we got the best package in the circumstances, including a sell-on clause."

Moore had scored five times in Rovers first eight games but missed Saturday's 6-0 thrashing of Alliance favourites Rushall.

If they can beat Mickleover Sports in Saturday's FA Cup preliminary round tie, Bromsgrove will entertain Dr Martens Premier Division giants Tamworth United.

Daniels also confessed his worries over the insecurity of his own week-to-week contract, laid down by Herbert

He said: "It's difficult if players know that I've got no security. It has its good points and its bad points. But it makes it hard to talk to new players knowing you might not be here next week."
