STUDENTS Katie Wadsworth and her pal, Laura Quested, had a tale to tell their friends after they were accidentally locked in Bromsgrove library.

The pair, both aged 15, and pupils at Waseley Hills High School, were hard at work studying for a project last Wednesday afternoon, September 5, when they suddenly realised they were alone.

Katie, from Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove, said: "It had gone quiet and the lights had been switched off but we hadn't realised because we were both so intent on studying."

Katie, and Laura, who lives in Bournville, were locked in for around 15 minutes before they were freed by the caretaker at the premises, in Stratford Road, who was alerted to their plight by the security alarm being triggered.

"We were pleased to see him arrive, but we were not scared, it was a bit of an adventure really," quipped Katie later.

Librarian Tim Marshall apologised to the girls and added: "It is the first time, as far as I am aware, that anyone has ever been locked in.

"Normally, we check before closing, but on that day we were very busy and short staffed and the check was not carried out."
