A SECURITY review is under way this week following an armed robbery at a Belbroughton restaurant.

Two masked men threatened terrified staff at the Little Chef, on the A491, before escaping with hundreds of pounds in cash.

The raiders, one brandishing a ten-inch kitchen knife, smashed a rear window at the restaurant as it was about to close on Tuesday September 4.

They demanded money from two petrified female staff before leaving the building via the fire escape. No one was hurt.

It is the second attack on the restaurant in five months.

In April, a lone raider, brandishing a handgun, escaped with £800.

A Little Chef spokesman said after the first incident security systems were reviewed and action was taken.

Further improvements are currently being discussed to prevent more raids.

In the latest incident, the men also fled with a blue cash box, a red post office bag and two metal cash tins.

Both wore balaclavas and one had a ponytail. They were described as stocky.

One was wearing motorcycle gauntlet gloves and the other wore clear plastic gloves.

Staff did not see an escape vehicle or in which direction they fled.

Kidderminster police spokeswoman Caroline Schubert said: "It was a terrifying ordeal for the members of staff involved.

"We are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Kidderminster police station on 01562 820888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
