IN response to WE Weston's request for answers (Letters, September 5) I will reply on behalf of Redditch Cricket, Hockey & Rugby Club.

The club has always been at the forefront of sporting development in the town. Historically, it was the first to lay down a ''Redgras pitch'' and build squash courts. The pitch was later converted into a synthetic grass pitch - at the time the only one in the county.

Membership is open; anyone may apply to join. Our facilities are available to the public who wish to book them, particularly the synthetic pitch, which is used every day of the week.

We work closely with the education authority and the local authority to stage school and sports action events at the ground. Also, two other clubs share our clubhouse, Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club and Redditch Sub Aqua Club.

Our facilities are intensively used and are reaching breaking point.

Against this background, we are now co-operating with the borough and county councils, Redditch United FC and Sport England to examine the feasibility of developing a community-based improvement to the sports facilities in the area using the greenfield spaces.

As I understand it, the footprint of the Bridley Moor High School buildings is still available for development. This approach is in line with national policy, which is trying to ensure communities have adequate recreational facilities.

I have no information to suggest this proposal, if it goes ahead, will be to the detriment of the plan to move the athletics track to Kingsley College.
