A TEENAGER became angry with police after she saw them talk to her sister following a drunken argument.

Emily Prosser had been out in Worcester city centre when she started rowing with younger sister Phoebe.

Droitwich magistrates heard yesterday that police patrolling around The Cross on Thursday, September 6, spotted the pair and intervened to check that everything was all right.

But 19-year-old Emily Prosser, who swore repeatedly at officers before walking away, became incensed when her sister got into a police car.

Kerry Moreton, prosecuting, said the argument happened around 2.30am as the sisters walked home.

"Police spoke to Emily Prosser and she replied with verbal abuse," she said.

"She was asked to stop swearing and shouting and soon quietened down.

"She followed her sister around the corner and started shouting abuse."

Mrs Moreton told magistrates Prosser calmed down but it was when Phoebe got into the car that she flared up again.

"She was told to calm down and go home but she swore at officers and was arrested," added Mrs Moreton.

Prosser, of The Hopmarket, admitted being drunk and disorderly.

"She felt it was a family argument and police shouldn't be involved," said Anne Brain, defending.

"Unfortunately, drink got the better of her. She had no desire to become involved with the police.

"She'd hoped she wouldn't be back before the courts."

Prosser, who is currently unemployed, has previous convictions for shoplifting.

"She had no intention of causing any trouble, it was just an argument that got out of hand," said Mrs Brain.

"She's sorry she's back here."

Prosser was fined £50 and ordered to pay £40 court costs.
