LOCKERBIE campaigner Dr Jim Swire, who appeared on television just this morning talking about airport security, said it was "a terrible tragedy".

The retired Bromsgrove GP told GMTV that airport security had not been tightened-up enough following the tragedy in December 1988, which killed his daughter Flora.

"This is terrible, I understand President Bush has said it was terrorism," he said.

"All three planes were hi-jacked from Boston, which shows that security is not tight enough there.

"I think the Government has a responsibility to its citizens to protect them from terrorism targets.

"I've taken a replica suspicious package on a plane on the route the Lockerbie plane was on just a year after that crash. Security just isn't good enough.

"Thank God there were no passengers.

"Security is obviously not good enough at that particular airport."
