KIDDERMINSTER Harriers old Achilles heel of conceding goals from set-pieces let us down again on Saturday when we lost 2-0 at table-topping Roch-dale.
It's something I don't really want to harp on about, but fans can rest assured it is something we do work hard on in training.
When you defend corners it's down to the individuals to do their jobs and unfortunately on Saturday that didn't happen and it cost us the game. It's as simple as that.
Having said that, though, I thought it was the best we have played in the league this season and everyone must remember that it's still early doors.
We have got to remain positive. After all, we are not in a Hull or Luton situation where we're spending money and have got to get promotion with every game we lose being a disaster.
Of course, we don't like to lose, but we are re-building for the future.
Whether we get our rewards this season, next season or the one after that we'll just have to wait and see.
People have asked me if I think there is enough goals in our side. I know we are having a problem scoring at the moment, but potentially we have got players who can get close to double figures.
We have got a few who are capable of that even from midfield with people like Mark Blake and Tony Bird.
Stewart Hadley got nine last season and you would think Drewe Brough-ton would get into double figures for us this season.
Then there's Ian Foster once we get him free from injury, so there is a potential for scoring.
Dean Bennett played up front at Rochdale on Saturday to try to stretch them with his pace and movement and I thought it worked quite well.
We had some decent chances in the first-half, but when we had them and we were on top we didn't take them.
Obviously, the lads were disappointed, particularly with the early goal we conceded which really gave us a mountain to climb.
We nearly got there with the opportunities in the first-half but then we conceded again from another set-piece in the second-half which was particularly disappointing.
But, as I keep saying, there's still a long way to go. If you look at the league table of the top four we have played three of them already, plus Darlington who are also up there.
Personally, of those, I think Hull will only get better. I think that was seen again on Saturday when they beat York 4-0.
But there's still a few of the other big boys we have to play yet like the teams who were relegated from the Second Division last season and once we have seen them then we'll get a clearer idea of who might win the league.
But from our own viewpoint obviously we want to improve and we've now got to concentrate on two more tough games that are going up against Plymouth at Aggborough on Saturday and at Shrewsbury next Tuesday.
Believe me, there's still a buzz going around Aggborough, but obviously we know that every time we take to the road we can't just go there and get beaten.
