ORGANISERS of a village flower show have hailed it as a bumper success.

The show at Great Comberton last Saturday was staged in glorious sunshine and attracted huge crowds.

Show chairman Mike Newson said: "The marquee was packed with exhibits of flowers, vegetables, fruit, cookery and preserves, crafts, wines and children's exhibits. The standard was the usual high one, despite a difficult growing season."

He added: "The dog show attracted many entries and interest. It is likely that all records have been broken."

As well as the stalls and exhibits, visitors also had the chance to see a display of glider aerobatics by Steve Alexander, of Bidford Gliding Club, with a commentary by fellow club member Warren Davies. The fun was all wrapped up with a pig roast for 150 villagers.
