A RISING star of the rugby field has proved he his head of the pack in both sport and academia after gaining top GCSE results.

Richard Campbell, of Kidderm-inster, achieved eight A* and three As to come top of the form at Oldswinford Hospital School, Stourbridge. rugby player Richard Campbell who has achieved top GCSE results.

The school rugby team captain, 16, of Merton Close, was praised by house tutor Peter Jenkins.

He said: "Not only is he very bright but an awesome rugby player who has represented the North Midlands.

"He is a multi-talented lad and we are delighted with his results."

Richard, who plays both first and second row forward for the school, hopes to read modern history at Cambridge University after completing a grand slam of A-levels.

His career aim is to be a sports journalist on The Times, unless he achieves his other ambition of representing England at Rugby.

He said: "I thought I would do well but this has exceeded my expectations.

"As for the rugby, I would like to go as far as possible and the ultimate would be to play for England."
