A DEAR psychiatric social worker friend (I've known her for 23 years) told me that when my new consultant psychiatrist visited me in my flat recently for a half-hour home visit, he got an extra £50, plus petrol allowance, on top of his already huge salary.
No wonder he said he'd come and see me again in a month's time. Fifty pounds for 30 minutes - I get £92 a week to live on. Rule Britannia.
