Ebrington Garden Club: Held its annual summer flower show on August 18 at the Washbrook Barn, by kind permission of Douglas Drinkwater. The show, which was organized by the show secretary Lucy Dunphey, was a great success, with a record number of entries. The cups and prizes awarded were as follows: Sarah Grant Memorial Cup: Mai Dorrington, Challenge Shield: Eric Williams, R.H.S. Banksian Medal: Doug Drinkwater, Vegetable Classes 1-25 & 28: Doug Drinkwater, Root Veg Classes: Eric Williams, Vegetable Classes 7-19: Doug Drinkwater, Salad Classes: Eric Williams and Vince Dorrington, Flower Classes: Mufitt Hart, Dahlia Classes: Peter Righton, Rose Classes: Gabrielle Falkiner, Fruit Classes: Eric Williams, Floral Art Classes 79-82: Muffit Hart, Cookery Cup: Mai Dorrington, Best Madeira Cake: Pam White, Tankard for the Most Points in Wine Classes: John Baldwin, Goodenough Cup-for the best Bottle of Wine, John Baldwin, Photography Classes: Dorothy Drinkwater, Craftwork Cup: Muffit Hart, National Vegetable Society Medal: Doug Drinkwater. Childrens Classes: 9-12yrs Laura Geddes and Katie Frost, 5-8 yrs Charlie Geddes, Under 5's Matthew Young, R.H.S. Junior Competition Award of Merit: Charlotte Madgewick. The next meeting of the garden club will be on September 11 at 7pm, to visit the trees planted for the Millennium, followed by a barbecue at "The Piggery", Hidcote Road.
