I WOULD like to express my concerns regarding the letter "Dangers of playing in busy streets" (August 23 issue).
As a parent I would rather my children play outside our home or very nearby, rather than at a local park where anything could happen.
I think the police are overworked now, without adding missing children to their list.
As a mother I would like to ask the person who wrote the letter - "were they never young and allowed to play, or have they had children of their own who wanted to play?"
Society has changed from locking children in the backyard to play. Everywhere you go you see children playing in the street, even in quiet, residential areas.
Also regarding the behaviour of children in supermarkets, the majority of the population go there to shop and not to watch the behavioural pattern of children.
I wish this person good luck in selling the property, as children live everywhere. They are our tomorrow.
