I VISITED Evesham today, August 23, for the first time in nearly 20 years.
There have obviously been many changes made and, on the whole, it was a pleasant and interesting visit.
After a stroll by the river my husband and I walked up to the war memorial.
This was meant to be a quiet sitting area - a place to remember and show respect for the men whose names are inscribed on the walls and who gave their lives for us and future generations. However, the area was strewn with litter, empty bottles, cartons, cigarette ends, etc.
Surely amongst the Evesham community there must be some one or groups who could make sure that this memorial area is kept clean and tidy, free from mess - a weekly effort perhaps?
Visitors from abroad must be appalled at the lack of care given to a memorial to our war dead - I am sure Evesham can do better than this.
