I WOULD like to extend my thanks to numerous people who have provided support and care to my late wife Joan Parrott and myself over the past difficult weeks. Doctor King and Doctor Phelps provided care and support during Joan's illness, Mary Berry and Nichols Ward staff who helped with her last few hours and made her very comfortable and ensured I was fully informed of all events leading to Joan's passing.

Since her death I have realised how supportive our family, friends, neighbours, associates, fellow councillors and officers of the district council have been especially our niece Juliet Short who has helped greatly in so many ways. I will not forget the kindness and support extended to me.

Joan was a popular person giving time generously to others and I thank our local newspapers for their tributes.

Lastly a big thank you to Rev Michael Gotter who has provided comfort and encouragement to me over the past week and gave a fitting tribute to Joan at her funeral.

Joan was always proud of our association with Stratford and fond of the people that has supported both of us through over 50 years of service through the council.

She will be missed by many but not forgotten.

COUN FRED PARROTT , Eton Road, Stratford.
