A MAN accused of an unprovoked violent attack inside a Kidderminster nightclub has been cleared by a jury.
Peter Duffy told Worcester Crown Court he was "absolutely mesmerised" when he was seized by a bouncer and blamed.
He insisted he was not Andrew Carter's attacker at the Zanzibar club in Castle Street, claiming it was a case of mistaken identity.
The jury cleared Mr Duffy, of Ryde Park Road, Rednal, of unlawful wounding.
The defendant gave evidence that he had just returned to the dance floor from a toilet when he was suddenly grabbed and frogmarched outside.
The 28-year-old, who was of good character, was given no explanation and was then arrested by police.
Mr Carter, celebrating his birthday with friends, was knocked out by a stranger on December 29 last year.
He needed stitches in an eyelid and suffered facial scars.
Police found no injuries to Mr Duffy's hands.
