A MAN charged with murder appeared before magistrates yesterday following the death of a Kidderminster man who was found badly injured on the A38 at Droitwich.

David Owens, 46, a painter of Meadow Walk, Droitwich, had his case adjourned at Droitwich Magistrates Court until Friday, September 7 and was remanded in custody to appear at Worc-ester Crown Court.

Michael Chamberlain, 44, of Abbey Road, Habberley, was found by police in a southbound lay-by between Westlands island and Ombersley island at Droitwich on Monday.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to Ronkswood Hospital in Worcester but pronounced dead on arrival.

A police spokeswoman said a violent incident had taken place in the lay-by between 11am and 11.15am.

A post mortem was carried out on Tuesday but the results have not yet been released by police.

The police spokeswoman said police were seeking witnesses who had seen a red Vauxhall Cavalier in the lay-by, or who witnessed any activity there at the time of the incident.
