YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a top trip to the flicks thanks to Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Warner Village Cinema.

Around 200 young supporters from the cricket club filled the Friar Street venue for a screening of Cats and Dogs yesterday.

The children, who belong to the Club Juniors and Junior Royals Club at the New Road ground, also met club captain Graeme Hick, and Worcestershire club mascot Peter Pear.

"The kids said that the film was great and said lots of thank-yous," said Kim Powell, a spokeswoman for Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

"We actually had a whole screen to ourselves.

"It thanks to Neil Walker, the general manager of Warner that this was possible because Warner donated this screening to us for free."

Youngsters wishing to become junior members can join for free if they are introduced by any adult who is a member of the cricket club.

Alternatively, a child can join Junior Royals Club for £15 and will receive a membership card and a baseball cap.

"With our junior clubs we're keen to offer a few days out to keep the kids interested in the cricket club once the season finishes," added Miss Powell.

"We are planning another two days out before the next season.

"Warners are keen to support us and as local businesses we are eager to work together."
