A YOUNG accident victim is literally finding his feet once more after returning home from hospital.

The family of Hamad Shahid say they are pleased with the toddler's progress now that he is learning to walk after a long spell in hospital.

The two-year-old spent six weeks in the Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, Birmingham, after being in an accident with a taxi in Wyld's Lane, Worcester, in June.

Close family members now predict that he could be back on his feet for good within a month.

"He's started walking but he's limping at the moment. His physiotherapist says he's doing well," said his uncle, Ishtiaq Ahmed.

When Hamad left hospital at the end of July he could only crawl along the floor at his parents house in Albert Road, Worcester.

Amazed

A physiotherapist from the city's Ronkswood Hospital has only visited the toddler once and has told the family she will not return until next month.

"She came along once and said he didn't need physiotherapy," said Hamad's mother, Sofia.

"She was quite amazed at his progress. Me and my husband are really pleased."

Sofia said her son was now playing football and cricket with his cousins and other children.

"When he was in hospital the doctors said that his walking would be improved by having other children around," said Hamad's uncle.

"He lost his confidence with walking at first, but could be back to normal in three or four weeks time."
