COMPETITIVE Chaddesley Corbett moved clear of the relegation zone after securing a comfortable winning draw with fellow Worcestershire League Division One strugglers Worcester Nomads.

The villagers put on a superb 115 for the first wicket as John Riches played fluently before a tired, defensive shot saw him out for 42.

But Matt Boden reached his century in 101 minutes, which included a six, and added 92 in 10 overs with Mark Edward.

Boden was caught at fine leg for 121 but Edward continued the onslaught with Kevin Truswell and reached his century in 93 minutes.

Edward was on an unbeaten 101 with Kevin Truswell 51no when Boden declared at 325-2 in 45 overs.

Nomads raced to 48 in five overs as Austin capitalised on an attacking field and wayward bowling to make 40.

Medley replaced Austin and took the attack to Chaddesley's spinners, Riches and Dave Perry.

At 142-1 after 24 overs, Nomads had a chance but Perry and Riches claimed two wickets each as the visitors slipped to 164-5.

Nomads eventually closed at 250-6 to take some points away from the clash.

The last three games are sure to be interesting with Chaddesley and local rivals Bewdley still involved in the race to beat the drop.

Chaddesley Corbett 325-2, Worcester Nomads 250-6.

Cup specialists Chaddesley completed a Worcester Evening League double with a 10-run victory over Ombersley.

The win at Malvern Ramblers' ground gave them the Thompson Cup on top of the recent Dowdeswell Cup success.

Edward (33) and Neil Fletcher (16) gave Chaddesley a sound start with 34.

Man-of-the-match Boden (38) then produced a stand of 47 with Edward as the villagers posted 127-3 after some late hitting from Ian Chambers (25 not out).

Ombersley never recovered from losing James Quinn to the first ball of the innings and were eventually bowled out for 117.

However, they got their own back by finishing four points ahead of Chaddesley to take the Worcester Evening League Division One title.
