KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club are being urged to take advantage of Monday's superb win over relegation rivals Coventry and North Warwickshire.

Captain Mark Mansell needs victories from the final games at home to Knowle & Dorridge on Saturday (noon start) and at Walsall the following weekend to help save the club's skin.

They are still bottom of the Birmingham and District Premier League but morale was boosted by Monday's hard-fought success.

Kidderminster had been in disarray after a thrashing by Cannock on Saturday.

Mansell said: "We hadn't really been thinking about relegation until Saturday when it didn't look very good at all.

"A defeat or even a draw against Coventry could have put us down so to win was superb.

"It's 20 points for a win and we really need to win our last two games and put the pressure on the other teams.

"Hopefully, we will go into those games with confidence whereas doubts will be creeping into Coventry's mind.

"It's certainly quite exciting - we've prolonged the agony for another week at least!"

Kidderminster are unlikely to make any changes for the weekend with pace bowler Chris Liptrot still being selected by Worcestershire.

Mansell warned: "Whether we stay up or go down, there will have to be a few changes here.

"We certainly want to maintain our Premier League status."
