I WAS pleased to read the remarks passed by Christine Shepherd and Shirley Farley (Postbag, August 10 and 17).
I share the same views about the town as they do and was dismayed to hear of the future discontinuation of our floral displays, both in the parks and on the traffic islands.
It has been such a joy each year to have these areas full of colour and the hanging baskets, too; they give us all such pleasure, not only to the residents but they are an attraction to visitors as well, and it would be such a loss to the town if these were replaced by drab low-maintenance shrubs.
We need to have more spent on these gardens, not less, to come into line with the beautiful displays in Ledbury and most other local towns.
I do so hope, now that this situation has been brought to the attention of residents, that something can be done urgently to reverse the decision of the Malvern Hills District Council and to ask them to reconsider it.
