IN response to Trish Price (You Say, August 7), I would say she is obviously not a lover of animals. No, we are far from being "petty-minded" as she puts it.

I am very much in favour of fun and enjoyment but not when it causes dumb animals so much stress.

These "crackers" began at around 7.30pm and continued spasmodically for another two-and-half hours during which time my dog, probably one of many in the area, became so traumatised we honestly thought she was going to die.

You cannot explain to an animal that the noise will soon stop.

Fireworks at Guy Fawkes and New Year are to be expected and the appropriate action taken but impromptu fireworks are not fair on animals or their loving owners.

It is the people who let fireworks off like this who are the selfish, thoughtless and uncaring ones.

n ONCE again, residents of St John's and Dines Green have to put up with the sheer stupidity of one man and his ego.

I refer to the idiot and his firework fetish who likes to keep my young family and countless others awake at night and in the early hours while he gets his cheap thrills.

What a sad individual. Let's hope West Mercia's finest and the Environmental Health Department catch him with his pants down.

n I SEE Jeffrey Cliche is moaning about his job of making tea bags.

With rising unemployment, he ought to consider himself lucky he's got a job. After all, he is getting £2 a week with free board and lodgings thrown in.
