MANY years ago, when the city council installed seats along the Bromwich Parade footpath between the Severn and the Cricket Club, I wrote to congratulate them.
In the interests of litter prevention, I asked them to install bins by each seat and to empty them regularly.
I received a reply that their budget did not allow for this. Now, several years on, with money to burn on the admirable St Andrew's Garden project, there are still no bins and the litter gets worse.
Last week, I took a plastic bag and cleared the debris from the Cathedral ferry back to the bridge.
The Brits are notoriously untidy but if there is a bin by the seat when they are eating their Big Macs, they just might use it to keep the place tidy.
If there isn't one, on the path it goes!
