THE Green 1st XI failed to gain a much needed win on Saturday when Eastnor were the visitors to North End Lane in a Worcestershire League Division Two game.
BARNARDS GREEN IST XI V EASTNOR IST XI
The Green lost the toss and were put into bat. Richard Williams (28) and Phil Divito (61) put on 64 for the first wicket, which put the Green in a strong position. But Divito found that he had little support as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Only Kevin Golder (23) looked like taking on the visitors attack with any confidence, once they both went the Green collapsed to 169 all out.
Jim Sandford (5-60) off 19 overs and Shahid (4-65) off 22 overs did the damage.
Eastnor made a good start with Shahid (71) and Bollen (29) putting on a century stand to put them well in command. Shahid was particularly savage on all the Green bowlers, hitting shots all round the ground, when they went Emery (19) and Arshad (27no) took the visitors to victory in 33 overs.
This was a disappointment for the Green, as they needed a win to keep them in touch with the safety zone, with only three games left, it's imperative that they win those games.
Thanks to Julian Hall (Garden Maintenance) for sponsoring the game.
