A NEW car park for Malvern town centre will take another step towards completion next month.

Two buildings on land behind the Unicorn on Belle Vue Terrace were demolished last year and on Monday, September 3, the demolition of the former exhaust, tyre and battery centre will begin to make way for the 40-place car park.

Pete McLaren, property services manager at Malvern Hills District Council, said that the demolition would take about three to four weeks. He added that tenders for the construction of the car park were due in at the end of August.

"I can't say when it will all be done, we won't know until the building contract has been tendered," he said.

MHDC has a budget of £195,000 for the work and has agreed to create an access ramp to land behind Robson Ward Kitchens, which could provide up to 100 more spaces at a later date.
