THE B4219 Cowleigh Road, which runs through North Malvern, could be closed for four weeks while workmen carry out repairs.
Signs on the road say the work being carried out by contractors on behalf of Herefordshire Council will only last 14 days but the actual contract period - for routine maintenance and improvement of the road's surface - is for one month.
Assistant Divisional Surveyor Clive Hall said: "The signs say two weeks but there is the possibility that due to unforseen circumstances, such as extra dig, that it may take a little longer."
The council has apologised for the inconvenience but says it has to close the road to protect the workmen as it is only four-and-a-half metres wide at some points.
The work began this week.
