THE opening of the Star Hotel in Upton, scheduled for Monday, August 13, has had to be postponed as work is taking longer than expected.
The hotel should have reopened on August 1, but the extent of the work needed, following damage caused by floods, is holding progress up and the owners have also hit a snag over replacement flooring.
Cotswold stone is being laid but as the 17th century coach house is a listed building, any alterations to its fabric should have been cleared with Malvern Hills District Council.
The owners have now submitted retrospective planning permission covering that aspect of the renovations.
David Murray, head of development at the council, said: "The application will take around six weeks to process, and if it fails the council may have to take action."
