TWO brothers are exhibiting together at Malvern Library Art Gallery for the first time next week.

Ernest and Roger Alma have drawn and painted since childhood but have never exhibited together, until this show, running from August 25 to September 15.

Ernest lives in St Austell, Cornwall and is showing a collection of woodcarvings, sculptures, wood constructions, drawings and prints. He began woodcarving in the 1960s, inspired by Henry Moore's work, developing clay modelling, moulding and casting techniques under the Cornish sculptor Tony Lamb.

Roger, of Upper Strensham, was an English lecturer at University College, Worcester for 30 years.

Retirement has given him the time to develop his lifelong interest in landscape painting, mainly in watercolour, in a series of courses with Geoff Rowswell in Malvern Wells.

Many of his paintings are of the Cornish landscape, though the exhibition includes some local subjects and pictures based on holidays in Ireland and the Greek Islands.
