"ANGRY" Kidderminster band Weak13 have announced a new CD and a beefed-up new-look line up as they set their sights on the big time.

The group, who peddle a distinctive fusion of rap, metal and hardcore, claim their sound has changed for the better now they have welcomed a sixth member, bassist Paul Hogan, into the fold.

And after linking up with a promotions company they are hoping to announce a mini-tour next month to complement the release of the CD which has seen them featured in national music magazines.

Frontman Nick Townsend said: "It looks like we've got a very good chance of getting somewhere - we'd like to give Kidderminster something else to be proud of.

"A lot of people have helped us get this far and we'd like to thank our fans in the Wyre Forest area, and most of all Kidderminster College for having the best performing arts course."

Former bassist Cob will now line up alongside Nick as a second vocalist, making way for the new member Paul, who said: "When Weak13 asked me to join them I couldn't believe what was happening. I've always been a big fan of the band."

Cob added: "The CD captures us at our best. We spent a long time recording the songs because we didn't want them to sound like demos. They're good enough to be played anywhere."

Weak13 describe their music as "loud, alcohol tanked, graffiti bedlam with dark and very angry twisted lyrics, full of temple-smashing intellectual anarchy".

The CD will be for sale at gigs and is also available to order from their improved website, which also features news, lyrics and samples of their music.
