Paul Cook of Cook's nursery and garden centre, was the speaker at the August meeting.
He talked about the various plants he had brought along, such as alstoemerias, roses, lavatera, hibiscus and lilies.
Paul explained the "do's and don'ts" of chemicals and insecticides used in gardening, and gave many tips.
He then answered questions from the audience.
September 5 is the date of the next meeting, when Katherine Kear's demonstration will be entitled Alphapetal.
The competition will be Metals and Petals, and the evening will start at 7.30pm, visitors welcome.
