UNITED manager Nicky Cross fielded a settled side against groundshare tenants Feckenham last night as he prepared for the big kick-off at Gloucester City on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The Reds player-boss has added midfielder Gavin Barratt, Sutton Coldfield Town striker Neil Beagan, midfielder Steve Cross, Solihull keeper Matt Jones and former Borough hitman Joey Dowling to his summer signings.

And Alvechurch forward Michael Campbell has secured release from his Lye Meadow contract a week after Church vice chairman Fred Evans said he was staying put.

The addition of Beagan and Dowling reunites the Solihull front three which included Cross two years ago.

And Beagan started his United career with two in two matches, scoring in the 3-1 win over Brierley and Hagley Alliance and the 2-0 win over Leamington on Saturday.

Danks claimed two last week and summer signing Andy Bradley scored his first for the club against Leamington.

Cross is still undecided on trialists Danny Anstice, Simon Williams and former Walsall winger Nasreem and has put moves for RC Warwick's Paul Eden and Paget's Jamie McWilliams on hold with the pair injured.

Player-manager Cross is waiting to hear from Irish under 21s star Aeonghous Martin who caught the eye with two goals in a friendly against Weston St Johns but has since tried out for other clubs including Dr Martens Western rivals Halesowen Town.

But the manager is hoping to unveil two more mystery signings on the opening day of the season with a possible midfielder and defender top of his want list.

New signing Neil Cartwright returned from injury against Leamington and winger Scott Colcombe (suspended), defender Nigel Niblett (calf pull) and new striker Joey Dowling (holiday) are set to be the only absentees at the weekend.

Attacking midfielder Mark Swann also came back from injury against Leamington.

Full back Ian Mitchell made a guest appearance for neighbours Studley BKL in their opening Midland Alliance fixture but is set to return for Redditch at the weekend.
