MORE than 250 framed and unframed works of art are on show at King Edward VI Grammar School, Stratford.

The paintings are the work of members of the Stratford-upon-Avon Art Society whose ages range from 16 years to over 80.

The society, which is the longest established art group in Stratford, is also celebrating its 42nd annual exhibition.

Exhibition secretary, Oriel Cockram said: "We've got very talented local artists of over 80 years of age. It keeps them off the streets," she joked.

The exhibition is very varied and includes abstracts, landscapes and portraits.

The pictures will be on show in the foyer of the Levi Fox Hall until Tuesday August 29, seven days a week from 10am to 6pm.

Admission is free and most of the pictures will be for sale.

Anyone interested in joining the society is heartily welcome to approach members who will be in attendance.
