100 years ago - August 17, 1901

THE teachers of the Sunday Schools and many of the workers with the Broad Street Baptist Church had their annual outing on Thursday in last week, visiting Bredon Hill, the views of which are always fresh and invigorating. A substantial tea was partaken of under some fine trees in a field belonging to Mr J.W. Dee, and general satisfaction was expressed at the manner in which Mrs Frisby and her daughters attended to the wants of the party.

75 years ago - August 21, 1926

Mr Leonard Hone on Wednesday last week held a very successful fruit sale Bredon and some splendid prices were reached. Twenty-five orchards were offered and practically all disposed of. Among the best prices realised were Mr Gilbert Martin's crop, which made £30 and Col. Stewart's Northway Orchard £50.

50 years ago - August 18, 1951

CROPTHORNE and Charlton celebrated the official opening of the new Sheppey Playing Field by holding a sports day on Saturday. After continual rain until 2pm, the opening of the field took place at 2.30pm as planned, by the donor Mrs Ellis Holland.

25 years ago - August 19 ,1976

A NIGHT-TIME sneak thief stole £11 from a wallet after climbing through a window and creeping up to a bedroom in Lime Street, Evesham. The owner was asleep at the time.
