IN the letter from John F Gittus (August 9 issue) he states, on the felling of trees, that only one or two people complain, and then it is too late.
Fortunately, during the last week I have found the opposite.
In our close we have a lovely woodland, with beautiful mature trees and plenty of wildlife.
The owner has applied for planning permission to clear the wood and build 16 houses.
I put out a petition and in three days I had in excess of 100 signatures.
There were people putting letters through my door, asking if they could help.
There is only one way to describe this - tree-mendous.
I did not have to ask anyone to sign. The petition was there for them to sign if they wanted.
