I AM writing in support of Miss Moyse in last weeks Journal regarding Peter Luff's article of August 2.

His view that 'all sensible people' should 'agree not to ban any human activity that does not harm another human' is, particularly from one in Mr Luffs position, disgraceful.

Does Mr Luff really believe that our country was a better place when such deplorable pass times as cock fighting and badger baiting were common place.

To believe that any non-human species is unworthy of consideration is bigoted, small minded and speciesist.

I am truly astounded that our member of parliament can have so little consideration for the countryside that is such a large part of his constituency.

PETA are not encouraging people to attack fishermen as Mr Luff has insinuated and any true animal rights activist knows that violence is never an answer.

The fishing issue is a complicated one and entirely separate to that of hunting. If Mr Luff wishes to make an effective pro-hunt argument then he should try to find one rather than relying on a fallacy such as that on which his article is based.
