MOTOR SPORT: There was joy for motocross racer Chad Yarranton in the British Youth Championships in Scotland - but the success proved expensive for his father Buster.
Just after the 12-year-old had pipped Swindon's Charlie Wood to take the third round at St Andrew's, the family's lorry broke down on the way home.
Buster called brother Kevin who travelled the 300-odd miles to bring them home with a return trip planned to collect the vehicle.
However, there were no such problems for Yarranton junior's bike on the track as he followed up a good 85cc small-wheel class second round victory at Tamworth.
His dad said: "Fingers crossed, he can take the championship now with another two events left. The next one's in September in Northern Ireland.
"Chad won in Scotland by one point and it was all down to the last race but he did what had to be done and won.
"However, he did have to work for it although the track suited him. It was deep sand with lots of jumps."
The successful weekend lessened the blow for the Stourport-based Yarrantons when they broke down near Glasgow.
Meanwhile, promising local lad Scott Probert finished fifth in the big-wheel class at the youth championships.
