THE pop-buying public may be smitten with Atomic Kitten, but four Pershore girls are aiming to put the Vale on the music map and get their claws into the charts.

Amy Spilsbury, Penny Carter, Az Hanna and Gina Lee, known as F8 (Fate), hope to take their first steps into the pop limelight with their debut CD, 'Oceans of Motion', which sold out in seconds when released at their former school Abbey Park Middle School in Pershore.

The girls, all aged 12, sold out their first CD of songs from a school production and are being sponsored by Ian Leaver, a teacher from the school, who is taking the CD to local radio stations to try and give the single some airplay.

They don't just sing either. Az can play the clarinet and Gina plays the saxophone.

They all start at Pershore High School in September and hope to carry on with the band and write more of their own songs.

Az Hanna, said: "Our music is quite different, it's pop, but it's dance orientated.

"We hope that our music sells as well to the public as it did to our old school friends."
